Abstract:

Objective

To investigate whether the use of porcine fiber adhesive can improve the recovery time and proportion of postoperative pulmonary air leakage in patients undergoing thoracoscopic segmentectomy.

Methods

Eighty-eight patients who underwent thoracoscopic segmentectomy in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from January 2021 to November 2021 were observed and analyzed. They were divided into the observation group and the control group according to whether porcine fiber adhesive was used during the operation. The clinicopathological features, perioperative data and postoperative pulmonary air leakage were compared between the two groups.

Results

There was no statistical difference in clinicopathological characteristics between the two groups (P>0.05) . Compared with the control group, the observation group had shorter postoperative hospitalization days (P=0.044) , less postoperative drainage (P=0.013) , and shorter postoperative catheter time (P=0.07) . Compared with the control group, the incidence of postoperative pulmonary air leakage was less (P=0.046) and the recovery time of postoperative pulmonary air leakage was faster (P<0.001) .

Conclusions

Porcine fiber adhesive can reduce the incidence of pulmonary leakage after thoracoscopic segmentectomy.
