Abstract:

Thymoma is the most common tumor in the anterior mediastinum, the preferred treatment for thymoma is surgical resection. The current standard operation is extended thymectomy, which includes the complete removal of the thymus and mediastinal fat tissue. Commonly used surgical method including the sternum split, video-assisted thoracoscope surgery and robot assisted thoracoscope surgery. As the split in the middle of their chest surgery because of its large traumatic, now has become less in clinical application. With the development of minimally invasive technology of thoracoscope, by the side of the chest and xiphoid process down into road thoracoscope surgeries are more used clinically, while the robotic surgery is only part of the hospital. However, controversies arose regarding which surgical method is more advantageous.
