Transmediastinal minimally invasive esophagectomy: review of the literatures and technical progress

Abstract:

The transmediastinal minimally invasive esophagectomy is a new minimally invasive technique for the treatment of esophageal cancer, it’s an excision of the esophageal tumor without thoracotomy. It can control trauma, and can reduce the incidence of perioperative complications. The purpose of this review is to retrospect the development history and related literature of the transmediastinal minimally invasive esophagectomy, and make a summary and prospect of the opportunities and challenges of the transmediastinal minimally invasive esophagectomy.
