Abstract:

Esophageal anastomotic fistula is one of the severe complications of esophagectomy. It is reported that the incidence rate of esophageal anastomotic fistula accounts for 2% to 30% among all postoperative complications of esophagectomy, which can lead to severe infection of the neck, mediastinum, or even retrosternal abscess, and even cause death if not being treated in time. Despite the continuous development of suture techniques and materials, anastomotic fistula remains a unsolved problem. However, at present, there are no stable, reliable and specific animal models, and stable and reliable animal models are important means to clarify the pathogenesis, pathophysiological processes and treatment modalities of esophageal anastomotic fistula. Therefore, we are eager to establish a perfect functional animal model to promote the animal experimental study of esophageal anastomotic fistula and the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of postoperative esophageal anastomotic fistula. In this paper, the present situation of esophageal anastomotic fistula, the preparation method and evaluation method of animal model of esophageal anastomotic fistula are described and summarized.
